Between the 1960s and 1980s—and before we knew exactly how harmful it was—asbestos was used in concrete within a large number of telecommunication pits. As long as these pits remain undisturbed underground, they pose no risk to people.
With the introduction of the National Broadband Network (NBN) there are now stringent procedures for asbestos handling, and particular processes must be adhered to when working with asbestos or asbestos-containing materials.
Codecom has responded to these procedures by custom developing its own mounting bracket. This solution is a unique, lightweight bracket that can be utilised in ACM (asbestos) and non-ACM pits, such as plastic and concrete pits. These brackets have the ability to be installed on location, while meeting the technical specifications and load requirements of telecommunication splice closures with fibres attached. The mounting bracket is fast, safe and cost effective and causes no disruption to existing equipment or lid flushness — and it can be used universally in all pit types.
Here are just some of the benefits to using our asbestos pit mounting bracket, to help you minimise the risk of asbestos disturbance:
- Positional adjustability and flexibility
- Lightweight and OHS compliant
- Low freight and handling costs
- Easy installation in confined spaces
- Can be easily installed over existing cables or ducts
- No disruptions of existing installations
- No penetration of chamber walls or existing installations
- Doesn’t impede pit lid installation
- Corrosion resistant
